Traitor is a physical 16-card game designed for a team project class at Sheridan College. Play as the king, the loyalist, or one of the two traitors and use the members of your court to protect -or overthrow - the current reign.
One copy of Traitor was printed for each team-member.
Graphic Design: created most card visuals and developed layouts.
Playtests: participated in weekly playtests to continually improve prototypes. After each one, we discussed and made changes.
Rulebook Designer: Wrote, edited, and designed the layout for the rulebook in collaboration with other teammates.
To create readable, functional cards, I focused on hierarchy of information and colour coordination to communicate different purposes.
It was also important to ground the cards in a familiar context. In early drafts, we just used items to represent each effect. However, as the game developed, I leaned into the medieval setting as much as possible and changed the cards to people under the player's control instead.
